Ask around if anyone has a holiday home that is empty for a few weeks during the summer holidays. Maybe you can borrow it for free, or in return for a favour. Start posting on social media and see what happens!

2. Discounts

Keep an eye on the various discount sites. You could be lucky to save up to 70 % on a great trip abroad. You just need to be prepared to travel at short notice and not be picky about the destination.

3. Stay at home

You don't have to travel to do something other than what you do in your everyday life. Make a list of trips you'd like to go on during your holiday, all of which are cheap or free. In Denmark, there are plenty of great deals for families with children:
